It is on foot 5 minutes from Enoden “Hase Station. It is one of the popular sightseeing spot of Kamakura.
“Juichimen-Kannon” (Statue of the Eleven-faced Kannon) which is also an important cultural property in the old temple from the Kamakura period or before is no less than 9.18 meters. It is famous also as places of interest of hydrangea, and many tourists will visit from the end of May to first in July. The two of “Juichimen-Kannon” were made from a big tree of Kusu and one of them has been the principal image of Hasedera Temple of Nara and another one wasinto the sea after having done Kisei (to pray for protection of gods). It drifted to Miura Peninsula 15 years later, and it has installed in Hasedera Temple of Kamakura to enshrine it and opened.
“Juichimen-Kannon”, which is enshrined in the front depths as the principal image, will come into view quickly when you enter Kannon-do hall (hall devoted to Kannon).
It is the huge statue of 9 meters in height to glisten with gold, and it is the biggest wooden the statue of Bosatsu in Japan.
