Zamami Island, Okinawa
About 40 kilometers west of Okinawa Prefecture Naha, about 20 large and small islands are floating. Surrounded by deep blue waters, the islands are known as the Kerama Islands, and are known for being one of the world’s most transparent oceans and wonderful coral reefs living there. There are four islands where people live in the Kerama Islands. One of the manned island is Zamami Island.
From Naha to Zamamijima, you can go from Naha’s Tomari Ferry Terminal by high-speed boat in 50 minutes and ferry in 90 minutes. Access to other remote islands of Kerama is also good, and although it is a little away from Naha, it is an island popular for tourists who want to explore the remote island. The reason is that humpback whales arrive in the sea of Kerama from December to April every year. Focusing on the festival related to the whale watching, a marine event is jostling on the island.
