“Kenrokuen Garden” is a garden of go round style, which is designated as a special scenic spot of the country in Kanazawa city, Ishikawa Prefecture. Kenrokuen Garden was originally used as a garden of Kaga lord. After that, passed down for many generations, repeatedly increased and remodeled, formed in the current garden. The history of the work of the lords of Kaga’s domination made Kenrokuen Garden established.
There are many sights and experiences on the vast site of Kenrokuen Garden. There are places where it is difficult to proceed when using a wheelchair, but at Kenrokuen Garden there is a “universal design course” and a “fluent course” that can be enjoyed casually.
The Universal design course is a course that goes round the Kasumiga-ike Pond and the Kenrokuen Kiku-zakura cherry blossoms. On this course, it is recommended going clockwise. The first highlight is “observation decks”. From the observatory, you can see the Sea of Japan and the Noto Peninsula, you can see Kaga plain, Utatsuyama in front of it and the city area. The fluent course is a course that can be enjoyed all over the garden. This course is long and it is hard to walk, but if you get tired you can use a rest area that is available in the garden. In this course, there are plenty of points to be highlighted, such as “Plum Grove”, “Shigure-tei” (tea room), “Jade Falls”, “Yugao-tei” (tea room) and “Fountain”.

The sightseeing spot “Kenroku-en Garden” representing Kanazawa-shi, Ishikawa is a country specification special scenic spot, and is counted with Kairakuen in Mito, and Korakuen in Okayama by one of the three outstanding gardens in Japan.
It is a typical garden which leaves the feature of the strolling-style landscape garden of the Edo period at today. Gardening started in 1676 and spent about 180 years.
Introducing access to Kenroku-en Garden. From Tokyo, take the Japan Railway Hokuriku Shinkansen and get off at Kanazawa Station. From Kanazawa Station, you can arrive by car or taxi in about 10 minutes.

Beautiful scenery of the lighting up
The lighting up will be performed from the middle of November to early in December when it becomes the best time to see of autumnal leaves. It is 17:30~21:00 at time of lighting it up.
