“Ohori Park”, one of Fukuoka’s premier tourist attractions, is one of the most famous water parks in Japan. The total area of Ohori Park, located in the middle of Fukuoka city, is about 398,000 square meters. It is also known as an oasis in the city and a venue for a fireworks festival, making it a place for many citizens to relax.
Four bridges on a huge pond connect the middle island and “Ukimido,” and in 2017, a middle island’s light-up was also started. There are about 2 kilometers of tourist roads in the pond, facilities such as wild bird forest, children’s playground, boathouse, etc. are installed. There are also Noh theaters and Japanese gardens on the premises, so you can do various ways of enjoying yourself.
“Ohori Park Japanese Garden” is a garden opened in 1984 to commemorate the 50 years of Ohori Park’s opening. It is a kaiyushiki style garden (circuit style garden) based on the traditional garden technique of the Japanese garden and was fabricated with modernity. At the site of 12,000 square meters, black pine, oak, and Kusunoki, Kaede, Asebian, etc., are planted, and you can enjoy the different seasons such as summer dark green and autumn leaves. Especially in the early summer landscape that Satsuki and azalea are in full bloom, there is a reputation.
At “Ohori Park Noh Theater” you can enjoy Japanese traditional arts. The building area is 2,478 square meters, with a total audience seating capacity of 590 seats and a stage of 5.64 meters square; various performances, including Noh and Kyogen, are performed.
Many trees are planted in Ohori Park, and you can touch rich nature throughout the year. You can learn about plants because tags with tree names are attached to trunks. In the surroundings of the “wild bird forest,” there are lush greens and camphor trees, and you can enjoy singing birds in rich greenery.
