Yuki no Bijutsukan (Snow Crystal Museum)
Yuki no Bijutsukan (Snow Crystal Museum) is the beautiful fantastic art museum which featured the theme of snow only in northern country Asahikawa, Hokkaido here. In the beautiful building inside was designed to represent the image of snow, there are many snowy crystal photographs, and is the whimsical concert hall where a concert or a wedding ceremony are held, and the corridor of the ice, you can feel the charm of snow. In “the corridor of the ice” which made full use of technology, you can see the beauty of the ice modeling of -20 degrees over glass even at the height of summer, and in the crystal room designed to represent the image of the state of naturally fallen snow, you can appreciate dreamy winter beauty for whole year.
The 64 steps of spiral staircases appear at first when you enter the Yuki no Bijutsukan. The main floor is in the basement. When you arrive at the open space with the fountain and look up at the stairs, you notice that the form of the slope is hexagon, in other words, an image “a snowy crystal”.
The first exhibit in there is “the corridor of the ice”. Both sides of the passage are lined with artificial icebergs, you must be overwhelmed in the dinamic beauty of it. The other side of the glass is the world of fifteen degrees of frost. The iceberg that the staff performs maintenance frequently, so it shows an expression of the ice not to be able to come across only that time.
The main floor of the Yuki no Bijutsukan opens when you go through pull “the corridor of the ice”. There is the concert hall, a cafe-terrace, and other shops, among them it is “the snow crystal room” to want you to go to visit.
