“Arakurayama Sengen Park” famous as a spot where you can see Mt. Fuji. It is known not only for Mt. Fuji but also for cherry blossoms. There are many places where you can see Cherry blossoms and Mt. Fuji, but there is no place where you can see elegant Japanese landscape as Arakurayama Sengen Park. In the garden, there is a memorial tower of the war dead called “Churei-to” (five-storied pagoda) and about 650 cherry blossom trees planted.
Mt. Fuji and cherry blossoms are both representative of Japan. You can see both from the park. In particular, the view from the vicinity of the five-storied pagoda, a symbol of Fujiyoshida City, is wonderful and it is a great place for photography as well.
Fuji, cherry blossoms and the five-storied pagers are taken together is also famous abroad. This place is selected as one of “21 Places Every Photographer Should Visit Before They Die”. Many countries have posted photos of this park in the guidebook introducing Japan, it is a popular park for foreign tourists as well.
To a place with a good view, you need to climb the stairs near 400 steps from the foot and further climb the slope. It is recommended to go in a comfortable walking style.
Every year when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the cherry blossom festival is held in the park. Light up is also done along with “kagura” (performance consisting of sacred music and dancing), so you can watch cherry blossoms at night as well as cherry blossoms in the daytime.
At night, Mt. Fuji can not be seen, but instead you can enjoy the night view of Fujiyoshida City. It is also nice to take pictures of night view and cherry blossoms at night. If you have plenty of time, when you visit the park from evening, you can see Mt. Fuji that stains at sunset before the cherry at evening.
Although Arakurayama Sengen Park is famous for its beauty in cherry blossoms, there are other beauties in other seasons too. Especially, the season of autumnal leaves is wonderful not to beat any other sightseeing of autumnal leaves. In the summer you can enjoy dusky, five-storied pagoda and Mt. Fuji, and in the winter you can enjoy the five-storied pagoda with snow makeup and Mt. Fuji. The park is open 24 hours a day so you can enjoy the scenery in the morning or the evening.
