“Hama-rikyu Onshi Teien” (Hama-rikyu Gardens) is located in the heart of Tokyo and is full of nature. It is also known as an oasis in the city center and has been loved by many people since ancient times. It is very popular as a sightseeing spot that can be easily enjoyed on a day trip from anywhere in the center of Tokyo. “I want to heal nature and mind”, “I want to eat delicious food”, “I want to play easily without having a baggage”, all of your greedy desires will come true.
Hama-rikyu Gardens consists of a vast garden and the Metropolitan Expressway to the west end. It is within walking distance from Tsukiji, Shiodome, and Shimbashi. Good access to Toei Oedo Line and Japan Railway. Surrounded by the buildings of Shiodome, the greenery spreads like a gap. Facing the Sumida River, it is a secret spot where you can see the Rainbow Bridge in fine weather.
Hama-rikyu Gardens is the recommended spot to introduce this time.
It is a cultural property that allows you to feel the taste of history as it is a garden related to the Tokugawa Shogunate, as well as the size of Tokyo Station. The garden is decorated with greenery and seasonal flowers, and because it faces Tokyo Bay, the ponds inhabit the goby, mullet, jellyfish, rays, and eels that spawn in the sea. And if you look overhead, a seagull will fly comfortably. It is a scenery that seems to forget you are in Tokyo.

The greatest garden in a metropolitan area

Hama-rikyu Onshi Teien (Hama-rikyu Garden) in the center of Tokyo is the greatest garden in a metropolitan area that has about 250,000 square meters and a vast area. The style used for the garden near the beach which takes in sea water from Tokyo Bay and enjoys change of a scene by the rise and fall of the tides. Because a pond and the waterway are seawater, the figure which a goby, a jellyfish, a ray fish are swiming seems to have possibilities to be seen.

The special scenic spot and special historic relics of the country

Hama-Rikyu Garden is divided into the south garden which was used for the Edo period as the Tokugawa shogun family’s villa, and was called the “Hama Goten” (beach palace), and the north yard built after Meiji Era.
A south garden has Shioiri-no-ike (pond of sea water) and two Kamoba (imperial wild duck reserves), and it is the typical Daimyo Teien (Garden of feudal lord) of the Edo period. Now, it is only this in the daimyo garden of Edo period, that sea water is actually going in and out, in the metropolitan area. It will be specified as the special scenic spot and special historic relics of the country in 1952 including the surrounding ponds, so its beauty is guaranteed.
