“Happo-En Garden” is a wedding hall in Shirokanedai, Minato – ku, Tokyo, which celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2018. It has extensive Japanese gardens on site. It is a venerable Japanese garden that lasted 300 years since it was a mansion of the warlords of the Edo period. It changes the expression beautifully according to the four seasons, such as cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.
As well as a wedding hall, you can use ryotei (Japanese restaurant) and Western-style restaurants such as “Enju”, “Kochuan”, “Slash Cafe”. Also, there are many people who visit the Japanese garden free of charge and can walk around freely.
The Japanese style garden of “Happo – En Garden” is the circuit style garden which passed a passage with gentle slope so as to surround the center pond. You can enter free from main gate near “Oriental chapel” or wooden gate near the main building lobby. Highlights of the garden are beautiful scenery that changes colors according to the four seasons, such as spring cherry, summer freshest green, autumn leaves, and winter snow makeup. The color of the trees reflects in the pond and makes the beauty stand out.
In the garden, Rokkakutei, Kakutei, Marutei, Suitei are arranged as resting places. Wherever you see, the harmonious scenery spreads as if cutting Japanese paintings as they were. You can admire the various landscapes of Japan, watching the water birds and colored carp from the banks of the pond, watching the bonsai on the hill.
There is a Western style garden chapel in the garden and if you are lucky you may be able to bless the bride and groom that comes out of the chapel on the way out.

The nearest station of Happo-En Garden is Shirokanedai station of the Mita line of the Toei metropolitan subway and the Nanboku line foy the Tokyo Metro. From the intersection of Hiyoshizakaue, there is a main gate on the left side of the hill descending. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, it is convenient to use the shuttle bus which departs from the roundabout of the Shinagawa station Takanawa entrance. The shuttle bus is operated every 30 minutes from 8:30 to 20:30, and you can reach Happo-En Garden in less than 10 minutes from departure.

Happo-En Garden is located in the place where the suburban residence of Hikozaemon Okubo who was the side secretary of Ieyasu Tokugawa more than 300 years ago (now Shirokanedai, Minato-ku, Tokyo). In the site of about 5000 square meters, there are Japanese gardens that have been able to see the trees of hundreds of years of age and migratory birds, carefully keeping harmony with nature. There is also the restaurant that is also used for wedding halls and parties.
The name of this garden seems to have been named with the meaning “a beautiful place regardless of wherever you look”.
