The Nagoya City Science Museum is located within Shirakawa Park, a 5-minute walk from Fushimi Station. This science museum, which has the world’s largest planetarium, is a facility where you can learn science while experiencing the theme of “Try looking and touching out”. Besides the theme-based experiential type exhibition, the experiment show, the exhibition which exhibits the dinosaur and topical work from a scientific point of view is also performed irregularly.
Everything about science such as “Astronomy Building” with planetarium, “Science and Technology Building” introducing physics and technology, “Life Science Building” introducing life and environment, etc. are displayed with full of humor.
“Brother Earth”, the world’s largest planetarium with Guinness records, has been renewed in March 2011. The inside diameter of the dome is 35 meters wide and you can enjoy high quality images aiming at reproducing the starlit sky as close as possible to the real thing.
Apart from the planetarium, Astronomy Building has a science stage, astronomy and exhibits that can be learned by the universe. At the science stage, an experiment show is held, and you can learn by seeing the interest of science with amazing experiments and explanations.
In Science and Technology Building, there are many experienced exhibits that can learn the principles of science. There are exhibits that show the mechanisms of machines around you, exhibits that learn about atomic and molecular functions. Others, such as extremely cold labs where minus 30 degrees can be experienced, physics and principles are introduced from various perspectives.
In the Life Science Building, various exhibitions are being held from microscopic worlds such as cells and DNA to Body Worlds, human activities, and the magnificent world tracing the history of the earth.
When viewing both the exhibition room and planetarium, adults are 800 yen, college students and high school students 500 yen. When viewing only the exhibition room, adult costs 400 yen, college students and high school students 200 yen. Both junior high school students and below can watch for free.
To take a train to Nagoya City Science Museum, get off at Fushimi Subway Station on Higashiyama Line and Tsurumai Line, and 5 minutes on foot from Exit 5 and 4. From Nagoya station to Fushimi station, if you ride Higashiyama line you will arrive in 3 minutes at 1 station. When dropping in to Nagoya, how about visiting?

The Nagoya City Science Museum is the comprehensive science museum built by commemorating the 70th anniversary of municipal government in Shirakawa Park in Nagoya. It consists of three buildings, the “astronomical hall”, the “science-and-engineering hall”, and the “life hall”, and the science phenomenon of a nature is introduced generally.
