The Nagoya City Science Museum is located within Shirakawa Park, a 5-minute walk from Fushimi Station. This science museum, which has the world’s largest planetarium, is a facility where you can learn science while experiencing the theme of “Try looking and touching out”. Besides the theme-based experiential type exhibition, the experiment show, the exhibition which exhibits the dinosaur and topical work from a scientific point of view is also performed irregularly.
Everything about science such as “Astronomy Building” with planetarium, “Science and Technology Building” introducing physics and technology, “Life Science Building” introducing life and environment, etc. are displayed with full of humor.
“Brother Earth”, the world’s largest planetarium with Guinness records, has been renewed in March 2011. The inside diameter of the dome is 35 meters wide and you can enjoy high quality images aiming at reproducing the starlit sky as close as possible to the real thing.
Apart from the planetarium, Astronomy Building has a science stage, astronomy and exhibits that can be learned by the universe. At the science stage, an experiment show is held, and you can learn by seeing the interest of science with amazing experiments and explanations.
In Science and Technology Building, there are many experienced exhibits that can learn the principles of science. There are exhibits that show the mechanisms of machines around you, exhibits that learn about atomic and molecular functions. Others, such as extremely cold labs where minus 30 degrees can be experienced, physics and principles are introduced from various perspectives.
In the Life Science Building, various exhibitions are being held from microscopic worlds such as cells and DNA to Body Worlds, human activities, and the magnificent world tracing the history of the earth.
When viewing both the exhibition room and planetarium, adults are 800 yen, college students and high school students 500 yen. When viewing only the exhibition room, adult costs 400 yen, college students and high school students 200 yen. Both junior high school students and below can watch for free.
To take a train to Nagoya City Science Museum, get off at Fushimi Subway Station on Higashiyama Line and Tsurumai Line, and 5 minutes on foot from Exit 5 and 4. From Nagoya station to Fushimi station, if you ride Higashiyama line you will arrive in 3 minutes at 1 station. When dropping in to Nagoya, how about visiting?
The science phenomenon of a nature is introduced generally
The Nagoya City Science Museum is the comprehensive science museum built by commemorating the 70th anniversary of municipal government in Shirakawa Park in Nagoya. It consists of three buildings, the “astronomical hall”, the “science-and-engineering hall”, and the “life hall”, and the science phenomenon of a nature is introduced generally. It features the theme “see, touch and confirm”, and experiment / demonstration show are planned several times per day. The popular planetarium “BrotherEarth” changes a theme every month, and explains up to the special contents, such as a stellar myth and the black hole, intelligibly with the newest image and sound.
The world’s largest planetarium dome “BrotherEarth” with the Guinness record
This is just the world’s largest planetarium dome “BrotherEarth” with the Guinness record. The image of the planetarium seen in a huge dome 35 meters in inside diameter is very skillful. Of course, seeing from outside is also a building of the highlight.
The wonder of the universe is explained
“BrotherEarth” in which state-of-the-art technology was filled tightly is said to reproduce the starlit sky near a genuine, and is the center of attention. The wonder of the universe is explained not to mention a stellar myth, the astronomical phenomenon of the month, expansion of the universe, a black hole, etc. making full use of CG, the newest visual equipment, etc. which the curator himself made.
It is full of the highlight
It is full of the highlight including “the severe cold laboratory” which can experience the world of -30 degrees, “the tornado laboratory” which can experience an artificial tornado of 9 meters in height, and “the electric discharge laboratory” which performs the electric discharge experiment show that intensity of the electric energy can realize.
The experiencing a phenomenon without most explanation
Even the children who are weak in science will become absorbed in the Nagoya City Science Museum. Please enjoy the scientific experience full of entertainment with a child.
Because you can enjoy the experiencing a phenomenon without most explanation, both children and adults do not get bored.
