The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office, a 10-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station, is an important place for Tokyo administration. People tend to think that it is a place where only businessmen are involved, but in fact it is also secretly popular as a tourist spot.
There is an observatory on the 45th floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office that anyone can enter for free, so you can get a panoramic view of the city without spending money. When you get on the ground, go straight for about 3 minutes while looking at the Keio Plaza Hotel on your left. There is a passage to the first main government building on your left, so proceed further with the “observation room” guide.
Arrived at the 1st main government building about 10 minutes on foot from the west exit. Next to the main entrance of the first main government building, you can see the entrance of the “Elevator for the North Observation Room”. The elevator entrance to the South Observation Room is also on the opposite side of the main entrance. You can move to the observation room on the 45th floor with a direct elevator.
At the observatory, you can see the Tokyo Metropolitan Tokyo scenery such as Tokyo Tower, Sky Tree, and high-rise buildings, and you can see Mt. Fuji when the weather is clear. If you want to see the fantastic Mt. Fuji, it is recommended to visit on a sunny day from autumn to winter.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office not only has a good view from the observation room, but can also get information about Tokyo, and you can visit inside the Tokyo Metropolitan Government where you can’t usually see it. They will be able to make much use in gathering information when enjoying Tokyo. In addition, there is a corner handling the special products of Tokyo on the first floor, you can also buy souvenirs. Besides that, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has exhibited art works that anyone can freely see. Although it is a government office, it is a place where you can spend a fulfilling time unexpectedly.
