Construction of Shitennoji Temple started in 593 AD CE. It is a very historic temple. It is Japan’s oldest temple alongside Asukadera Temple, but most burned down due to the large air raid during the previous war. One of the oldest full-scale Buddhist temples in Japan

The Shitenno-ji temple is the Buddhist temple in the Tennoji area in Osaka. Tradition says that it is one of the seven great temples having been built by Prince Shotoku in 593. It is written down in “the Chronicles of Japan” about the process of the construction.
With the Asuka temple which Sogano Umako built, it is one of the oldest full-scale Buddhist temples in Japan. After the Heian period, disaster ware encountered frequently and, as for the old building, many do not remain.
However, it has a very large site today, arrangement of Garan (Temple buildings) called the Shitenno-ji-temple-style which South Gate, an inner gate, a five-storied pagoda, the main hall of a Buddhist temple, and an auditorium are located in a straight line also is still remained.
