Showa Memorial Park (Showa Kinen Koen), Tokyo

The Showa Memorial Park, which spans Tachikawa City and Akishima City in Tokyo, is a state-run park that is also known for its beautiful ginkgo row of trees. You can visit from the city center in about an hour. The vast site of approximately 180 hectares is divided into five zones: a green culture zone, an exhibition facility zone, a water zone, a plaza zone, and a forest zone. Showa Memorial Park is a park that is widely used for live events and music events by famous artists.
The national Showa Memorial Park has 1,500 cherry trees, making it one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Tokyo. There are 31 different varieties of cherry blossoms in order from early bloom to late bloom, so you can see various scenery. Since the park is large, it is also advantageous to avoid pushing against the leisurely seats.
The main attraction is “Sakura no Sono” in “Minna no Harappa”. Someiyoshino’s large tree spreads a lot of branches, and the flowers are weeping in front of you. “Minna no Harappa” has large flower gardens in the east and west, and you can see the cherry blossoms and rape blossoms in full bloom. If you look down, you can enjoy the yellow flowers, and if you look up, you can enjoy the pale pink flowers.
In addition, the Japanese garden in the forest zone is an authentic “Chisen-kaiyushiki-teien style” (a stroke-style garden around a big pond) built around a large pond. In the “Kanfu-tei” in the garden, you can spend a relaxing time while feeling the beautiful four seasons of Japan, such as a full-fledged tea party.
Also, the “Rainbow Pool”, which is crowded every year in the summer, can be said to be a leisure park. There are nine pools that are more diverse than the rainbow on the site of about 7 hectares. The pool period is from mid-July to the beginning of September every year. During the period, a shuttle bus runs from the Tachikawa Exit to the Rainbow Pool every 5 to 10 minutes.
Every year from the second half of September to the beginning of November, the “Cosmos Festival” is held in the park, where you can enjoy a free cosmos picking experience. There are about 5 million cosmos filling the park. The varieties and colors planted vary depending on the area, so you won’t get tired of watching.
From November to December following the cosmos, the trees are all colored. About 100 ginkgo trees are planted in the ginkgo row of trees and canal, and 300 autumn leaves are planted in the Japanese garden. Each will delight the eyes of the visitors. In November, the “Yellow Autumn Leaves Festival” will be held, and concerts will be held.

December is the season when the national Showa Memorial Park becomes the most romantic in a year. The whole area from Tachikawaguchi Gate to Canal and Fureai Plaza is specially opened at night and you can enjoy full-scale illumination.
