Did you know that the origin of Toyota, a global automobile manufacturer, was actually “weaving”?
“Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology” is the only museum in the world that introduces the history from Toyota textile machinery, which can be said to be the starting point of Toyota, to today’s “Automobile” through dynamic exhibits and various demonstrations. This museum introduces the “spirit of research and creation” by Sakichi Toyoda who devoted his life to the invention of the loom and the importance of “manufacture”, the passion of his son Kiichiro, who challenged the domestic production of automobiles.
A factory built in the Taisho era by Sakichi Toyoda is used as it is, “Textile Machinery Museum” displaying about 100 units from the initial tools and machines of “spinning” and “weaving” to modern textile machinery . It is also possible to experience the real “manufacture” because you can see the actual spinning and weaving of the fabric in front of you. In the demonstrations and dynamic exhibitions on spinning technology and looms, you can’t help but feel the “hard work” of Sakichi Toyoda.
At the “Automobile Hall”, you can feel Kiichiro’s efforts to develop domestic technology for mass production of automobiles based on the textile machinery business. The dolls and models are used to introduce everything from the devotion to developing a small engine to the creation of the first mass-produced vehicle.
You will be impressed by the flow of tradition and time that the technology of weaving machine is reflected in the mechanism of the engine and machine. This is an exhibition that truly shows the “spirit of research and creation” and “importance of manufacturing” in “Toyota Spirit”.
Some of you may be wondering how much time you will need to visit the “Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology”. The speed of the tour is completely different from individual to individual, so it’s not easy to say, but it’s about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours.
If you want to see only the exhibits, some people will be able to see it in one hour, and if you want to watch and listen to explanations and demonstrations at important points, it takes 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. And if you like mechas or cars, you can be comfortable in 3 or 4 hours.
